Illinois Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza attended this morning’s ribbon cutting to kick off the 2025 Illinois State Fair. She’s urging everyone to come out and enjoy the event.
“I’m so excited to be able to help open the Illinois State Fair and I encourage everyone across the state and beyond to come to Springfield over the next 11 days to see the Butter Cow, listen to Snoop Dogg and Def Leppard, enjoy a Vose Corn dog, take a spin on the carnival rides and watch the high dive show.
“Another thing I love about the fair is the work that goes into making it affordable for families,” said Mendoza. “There is plenty of free entertainment all over the fairgrounds, livestock shows and daily promotions that can really help cut costs.”
Comptroller Mendoza’s tent will be open each day of the fair, offering visitors giveaways, cold water, games and information about the office. On Tuesday, August 12th, the office is partnering with WILD Canine Rescue in Springfield for a dog adoption event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tent is located on the north side of Brian Raney Avenue.
The Comptroller visited the fair as it was being set up and recorded a video showing visitors around the fairgrounds. Her video will be playing in the tent and is available on YouTube.
She also recorded an episode of the Mendoza Podcast about the fair with Illinois State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark.
