General State Aid and other major state educational grant programs are paid through the General Revenue Fund (opens in a new window) , the Education Assistance Fund (opens in a new window) , the Common School Fund (opens in a new window) , and the Fund for the Advancement of Education (opens in a new window) (four of the seven General Funds in the state treasury). Several of the funds listed here collect federal revenues (opens in a new window) , which the State Board of Education passes on to local school districts. Most of state education spending is through state grants to local school districts, but spending also includes operationals for the State Board of Education.
