SPRINGFIELD, IL — Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza said today that her office is prepared to issue paychecks that put state workers on their proper pay steps.
Governor JB Pritzker has announced his plans to put employees on their proper pay steps starting in April. Once state agencies submit payroll vouchers reflecting this change, they will be paid by the Comptroller’s Office.
“Working families across our state have been waiting for this for years. My office stands ready to pay workers their proper wages,” Comptroller Mendoza said.
Comptroller Mendoza joined labor groups on multiple occasions to call on the prior administration to pay workers what they are owed. At the time, Comptroller Mendoza called on the prior administration to put employees on their proper steps going forward as a start to making them whole.
