DU QUION, IL — I thank the state representatives of both parties who came together today to pass historic legislation to provide equitable school funding in Illinois. I urge senators of both parties to follow suit tomorrow and pass this bill so that my office can send out the missed General State Aid payments to schools as soon as possible.
Compromise means nobody gets everything they want but everyone gets something. Common sense must prevail. The state must resume funding schools. I thank all who have worked so hard on this plan to finally start the state down a path to equitable funding of schools around Illinois, a path that will benefit all of our state’s children.
