CHICAGO — The 3.5 percent rate the state of Illinois received on its competitive bond offering Tuesday will serve state taxpayers much better than the interest rates of up to 12 percent the state pays on parts of its bill backlog now. Once the negotiated sale is complete, my office will leverage federal matching funds to get taxpayers a good return on their investment and we will move swiftly to pay down the highest-interest-accruing parts of the state’s debt.
PINCKNEYVILLE — Illinois Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Josh Downs as her office’s Southern Region Outreach Coordinator. The Comptroller is also announcing today that she has established an office in Southern Illinois, located in the Perry County Government Building, south of Pinckneyville, on State Routes 13-127.
A Statewide Pet Adoption Event on Veteran’s Day
CHICAGO—Today at PAWS Chicago, Comptroller Mendoza announced her “Pets for Vets” all-day, statewide pet adoption event to be held on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11th, 2017. On this day, any veteran that walks into one of the designated shelters around the state and adopts a cat and/or dog will have the adoption fee waived thanks to the generosity of the participating sponsors.
