About PAWS Chicago
PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving) is a national model in No Kill animal sheltering, committed to bringing an end to the killing of homeless cats and dogs. As Chicagoland’s largest No Kill shelter, and one of the largest in the nation, PAWS has helped to reduce the number of homeless pets killed in the city by more than 80 percent since its founding in 1997. In just 20 years, PAWS Chicago has grown from a grassroots organization to a national leader in the No Kill movement, guiding other communities in how to dramatically reduce the euthanasia of homeless cats and dogs.
In 2016, PAWS Chicago found homes for 5,125 dogs and cats through its Lincoln Park and Highland Park Adoption Centers and performed 17,236 spay and neuter surgeries through its Lurie Clinic and GusMobile Spay/Neuter Van. These two medical resources give PAWS Chicago the ability to provide subsidized spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and humane education to under-resourced families and neighborhoods that need the most help in controlling pet population.
Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest independent evaluator, has rated PAWS Chicago at its highest 4-star ranking for 15 consecutive years—an accomplishment that less than 1% of the charities in the nation have reached.

Meet Gaston! Gaston is a super adorable and laid back 10-year-old Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix who wants nothing more than to become your very best friend. He originally came to PAWS as a young lad and was quickly adopted into a home where he stayed for about 7 years. Sadly, Gaston was brought back when it became clear that he was not a good fit for their household.
Meet Brody and Saba! They are a bonded pair of gorgeous 5-year-old tabbies looking for a home together. These two best buds were both found as strays and brought to PAWS Chicago to give them a chance to live with a family that will love them forever! They are both fairly timid and shy and need the assistance of an experience cat owner with a quiet home to help them come out of their shells.
Yodellee is a 7 year old Chinese Crested/Jack Russell Terrier mix. He is missing an eye, but he misses nothing else! Yodellee came to PAWS from one of our rural transfer partners in Tennessee and is now on the hunt for a family of his very own. This adorable boy would love to live in a moderately active adults-only home where he can eat all the kibble his heart desires and snuggle up next to his human buddy for a relaxing movie night.
Max is a 9 month old Labrador Retriever puppy with boundless energy looking for the perfect forever home. Max would do best in an adults-only home with an owner who has experience with her breed. She is a sweet and happy girl who loves nothing more than to play fetch with a nice yellow tennis ball and eat all the stinky treats her stomach can handle!
