PINCKNEYVILLE — Illinois Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Josh Downs as her office’s Southern Region Outreach Coordinator. The Comptroller is also announcing today that she has established an office in Southern Illinois, located in the Perry County Government Building, south of Pinckneyville, on State Routes 13-127.
Downs will serve Southern Illinois on behalf of the Comptroller’s Office. He will be working closely with local legislators, local units of government, constituents, and non-profits to better understand their needs and to enhance communication with the Comptroller’s Office. Downs will also be working to expand access to the office’s services, including the Local Debt Recovery, Checks for Cash, and Smart Business Illinois programs. Most weeks, he will hold office hours on Monday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the address listed below. You can contact him at (217) 299-2761 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“I have been visiting small businesses, grocery stores, farms, coal mines, coffee shops, and homes all over Southern Illinois, listening to residents, since I was sworn in this past December and you’ll continue to see a lot of me,” Comptroller Mendoza said. “Since I can’t be everywhere at once, there isn’t a better person than Josh Downs to represent the Comptroller’s Office in the southern region of our state.”
Downs, a Du Quoin native, graduated from Du Quoin High School in 2003 and SIU-Carbondale in 2008. He has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary History Education and previously worked at Du Quoin Elementary School as a Home-School Coordinator and at Coca-Cola as an Account Manager. He served a four-year term on the Du Quoin City Council from 2011-2015 and is currently a Commissioner on the Perry County Housing Authority Board. He and his wife, Lindsi, reside in Du Quoin with their two-year-old son, Jackson.
